Melinda
Scott

Melinda:Could you give me some idea of what health care programs there are in the community?

Scott:With pleasure. Generally speaking, we are concerned with all aspects of promoting good health.

Melinda:So it should be very important. What does Community Health Service mean exactly?

Scott:It is a continual process, from a newborn baby all the way up to the end of one's life. The first part of the process is communication, just telling people how to help themselves avoid illness through diet, healthy living, cutting out smoking and so on.

Scott:Anything else?

Steven: Another aspect is providing information concerning the prevention of traffic accidents living in big cities, what you would call health and safety.

Melinda:I'm not too familiar with that.

Scott: Moreover, we provide education relating to alcoholism, depression and anxiety. These are all areas that are of growing concern.

Melinda:Yes, there are people suffering from depression, particularly some sick people and the elderly. How is community care provided to them?

Scott:Bedside care must be given to the chronically sick in their homes. This is typically provided by the family, of course, with the help of community nurses or health care visitors.
